This paper offers a proposal for the use of GIS (geographic information system) for analysing the need and potential for building low-cost housing in Hong Kong, involving the use of special software and a computer system to analyze layers of information about a given area so as to reach a decision and develop a plan of action, making use of existing organizations to find and analyze data by computer.
