This is a brief paper about earth extinction that is similar to Mars. This can be related to the various problems in the earth. "There have been 5 known mass level extinctions in Earth's history; these events are characterized by the marked decline of biodiversity which mark the end of a geologic period" (Matthews 11-4-1). Not only has earth had problems with asteroids and meters, but scientist have discovered evidence that a meteor impact may have been the trigger to the collapse of civilizations more than 4,000 years ago. Studies that scientists have done in southern Iraq could possibly point to the Middle East being struck by a large crater. "The catastrophic effect of these could explain the mystery of why so many early cultures went into sudden decline 2300 BC" (Matthews 11-4-1).
