This essay examines the contention that the United States government is not a participatory, liberal representative, or pluralist democracy. By analyzing the basic tenets of each model and testing the applicability of those tenets to the United States, it is possible to determine if the above argument is true. In addition, based on that analysis, this paper will determine which model, if any, is the closest match.
