Western Influences on the Marriage Practices of the Shona
This paper examines the ways in which the marriage traditions of the Shona people of Zimbabwe are changing. They are changing in conjunction with the changes occurring among African Americans. Both are experiencing changes in their wedding practices as a direct result of the spread of Western values that are more appealing but usually at odds with traditional values.
