This four-page junior level paper analyzes the novel "beloved" by Toni Morrison. The mythical ghost in the novel 'Beloved' represented the past that haunted a former black slave. Sethe killed her daughter to save her from persecution and slavery. That memory haunted her for eighteen years in the form of guilt. Besides, the former slaves never got over their dreadful, humiliating and dehumanizing past. Freedom was a myth and the pain could only be overcome by talking of it. 4 pgs.
